Reno Brights! / RealityApologist on 8 Sep 2007

Hello,

I've recently moved back to Reno after attending college in the Bay Area. I taught a class at Berkeley on the philosophy of atheism, and have done a lot of philosophical work in this area. I'd love to get involved in a local Brights chapter. Get in touch with me at: reality.apologist AT gmail.com and let me know your ideas!

Would love to help / Tony on 1 Aug 2007

Hi Stephanie,

I'm out in here Carson City and haven't been in the area too long but I have been looking for organizations/groups that share an atheist/humanist view. I can't say that have found any unfortunately but would love to help if you're thinking about starting up a Brights Chapter. What are some of your ideas?

Restore our American principles / txre1937@hotmail.com on 8 Jul 2007

July 7th, 2007

Hi Stephanie, we need to restore our principles.

We seem to have forgotten the essential elements that promotes American principles and national leadership that accepts the United States' national responsibilities, that is strong and ready to meet both present and future challenges; a national policy that boldly and purposefully
Stand for our sovereignty, our national security, the rule of law, our national economic and welfare of the working class and most important our patriotism, loyalty and our love for America our country.
The future of our country is in our hands, we must take the responsibility to change the leadership of our country we must elect statesmen to govern us not politicians that seek political office for the love of power and money.

Now is the time for all Americans to stand united to the aid of our country, this administration and many of the congressmen and senators are accountable for the existing conditions in our country and we must work hard to replace them.

Let's take responsibility ourselves for our future and the future of our United State and the American 'principles'
Now, as never before, we need men and women who understand that being an American is more than living in America. Being an American is a concept based on a set of values and ideals. It's a burning patriotism that believes that this country is the best in the world, inferior to no other nation.
Today I have great concern for the future of our country, the United States of America and wonder if our country will survive for our children and their children's children.
My concern stems from many serious changes taking place today.
We are becoming a bilingual society, with only half of the candidates running for president believing that English should be the official language of the United States. American jobs are vanishing as U.S. companies close plants and outsource to locations overseas or south of the border. The Rule of Law is being eroded by a government that refuses to enforce our laws and gives amnesty to millions of people who have entered the U.S. illegally. Political correctness has stifled freedom of expression and common sense. Judicial supremacists are attempting to remake America into a society that rejects traditional marriage, banishes the Pledge of Allegiance, the Ten Commandments and the Boy Scouts.
Where once there was integrity, honesty, and decency, we have lowered the flag of righteousness by allowing moral decay to eat away the very fiber of American society.
U.S. sovereignty is being threatened by an agreement called the Security and Prosperity Partnership which, if approved by Congress next fall, will bring us closer to the North American Union. The "union" would in effect erase the borders between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, allowing free migration of peoples between countries. This move toward globalization will be a giant step to One World Government or a "new world order," and the United States of America will fade into oblivion.
Our America is at war, the life-threatening condition plaguing our nation may prove to be fatal unless immediate action is taken to reverse our direction. On the election of 2008, we must elect Statesmen that love our country as we do not politicians that will sell out to corporations and Business interest. Our loyalty and love is to our country, The United States, no matter what political party we belong, we must vote for the candidate that will stand for The America principles and the American working class.
I pray for unity and that God will never remove His protective hand from our nation. And that all Americans will rededicate themselves to the principles and ideals that made this country great.

going to vegas / evanm on 9 Jun 2007

Hey Stephanie, I will be going to Vegas soon... not to far from Reno. A brights support group would be great - though I have already been looking at a few ethical, humanist, and atheist societies.
