IRC ready? / Christian Misley on 2 Sep 2007

Hello,

I would like to know, who of our Members here is able to join a IRC Channel to start a little internet group activity and who does not know how to use a IRC.

For everybody who has no IRC Client in use, I recommend "Chatzilla" (IRC Client add on) for Firefox (Browser).
Here is a link to download Chatzilla which is a add on for Firefox:

https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/16

After installing Chatzilla, you can start it through the "EXTRA" section, between "bookmarks" and "help".
It will open on click in a new window.

In the window on the bottom you can enter commands to enter networks or join channels.

To enter a network you enter: /server NAMEofNETWORK (example: /server moznet )

If you want to join or open a new channel the command is: /join #NAMEofCHANNEL (example: /join #Brights_Philippines )

If you are inside a Channel you can save this channel as startup channel by opening the IRC section (between Chatzilla and Edit button), and checking the text: "open this Channel at startup" .
Then you will enter the Channel without having to enter the commands everytime you start Chatzilla.

Here are same sample Info to which Network and Channel we could use:

/server moznet (confirm with enter button on the right side of the bottom window)

/join #Brights_Philippines (confirm with enter button on the right side of the bottom window)

/nick NEWNICKNAME is the command to change your nickname which is used in the Channel.

But for more Info check out the FAQs for Chatzilla at: http://chatzilla.hacksrus.com/faq/

As soon everybody is ready, we have to decide when is the best time for a chat in IRC, therefore everybody can post also a prefered time when he or she can join a chat.

Questions and better Ideas are always welcome.

With regards,

Christian
